Homework
➤ Object essay due next class
Your object essay is due next class! Please upload it as a .doc or .docx file to the Box folder.
➤ Read 《怀乡书》excerpts
Read (or look at) the excerpts from Sheng Keyi’s 《怀乡书》(“The Book of Homesickness”).
Be ready to share one observation about these passages, paying particular attention to these questions: How are the four passages similar? What patterns do you notice about them?
If you can’t read Chinese (or if your reading ability is limited) you still have an important role to play here. What do you observe about the four passages without being able to read the text? What similarities and patterns do you notice?
➤ Tu-Th section only: write new ending for “The Mwiko.”
Reread “The Mwiko,” thinking about the question: What does the mwiko mean for each of the characters involved? Then, write a new ending for the story that consists of a scene in which one of the characters does something (a physical action) with the mwiko. Upload your new ending to the folder “7-New ending for Mwiko.”
