What makes a good ending?

Observation and practice “I Remember”
Homework
➤ Work on final project
Continue to work on the essay you’ve chosen. When you want feedback on a draft, message me to make an appointment. (The earlier, the better! If you wait till the last minute, I may not have time.)
➤ Read, observe, and write “I Remembers”
Read the excerpts from “I Remember” by Joe Brainard. As you read, notice the patterns that emerge in these fragments. How do the fragments relate to each other? Do you notice similarities / contrasts between fragments? How do the fragments travel back and forth in time? What themes do you notice recurring?
Then, write your own “I Remembers.” Aim for about 2 pages’ worth. (Use this as an exercise in “automatic writing” — try to produce a lot of writing. Keep writing constantly, just whatever comes to mind. Then delete the ones you don’t like and keep the ones you like.)
Upload your “I Remembers” to Box, to the folder titled “I Remember.”
➤ Read classmates’ Aphorisms and Poems
Read your classmates’ the aphorisms (the ones expressing what they believe) and their “postcards from the present” turned into poems.
Come ready to share one aphorism you particularly and one poem you particularly like, and be ready to share a few observations about that aphorism or poem.
